Abstract

The medical device industry is emerging as a manufacturing business with steadily growing high growth due to worldwide economic growth, technological development, and growing interest in health. However, domestic medical device manufacturers are less competitive than those of global medical devices. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of the medical device industry and derive the medical technology that can have strengths in overseas export through a patent network analysis related to domestic medical devices to enhance the global competitiveness of domestic medical device manufacturers. Through the empirical study, core technologies were derived from the network analysis and exported technology was matched with medical device export data. As a result, exportable promising technologies such as Vascular Transplantation Filter, Dental Chair, and Ophthalmic Devices etc. were derived. By identifying the promising technologies for exporting medical devices, it will help companies to advance into overseas markets.
