Abstract

A cohort study using results from a private health insurance database has found an association between folic acid prescription fills and reduced rates of suicide attempt. An analysis involving individuals taking a 1 mg/day dose of folic acid found a 5% decrease in suicidal event rates for every additional month of treatment.
