Abstract

Evaluating ship collision probability is significant for maritime transportation risk analysis as well as improving maritime safety. In practice, ship collision probability estimate by using traditional observation or field experiments is nearly impossible. Individual ship’s navigation behavior is modeled as an agent, and their encounters are detected by a based intelligent algorithm. In this paper, we recommend a based on an agent-based model using a geographic information system for evaluating ship collision probability. The proposed model has the potential provided decision support for guiding maritime transportation vessel planning in the future.
