Abstract

Nowadays, piezoelectric inkjet printing technology has been widely used because of its unique advantages. It is of great significance to study the formation mechanism of ink droplets and the influence of various parameters on the ink-jet process. Therefore, a model of piezoelectric ink-jet system was established to simulate the formation process of ink droplets. Then numerical experiments were carried out to study the effects of frequency, driving speed, and ink properties (surface tension) on the formation of ink droplets. The results show that they have a great influence on the shape of ink droplets and the length of liquid column. They can also change the number of satellite droplets. The simulation results can provide preliminary data for the preparation, implementation, and application of the actual inkjet printing system.
