Abstract

This paper presents the simulation of a hybrid photovoltaic-wind generator. The photovoltaic (PV) generator is composed by five modules connected in series model Kaneka GSA060 and the wind turbine is Air X model with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The hybrid system contains a wind turbine PMSG that consists of a wind turbine block parameters coupled to a permanent magnet synchronous generator and a rectifier, the variable output DC power from the rectifier is filtered and linked to a chopper that is controlled by a PI regulator and PWM technique, also it contains another chopper converter controlled by a P&O MPPT method used as an adaptation stage between the PV generator and the DC load. The command techniques are used to control both choppers in wind and PV generator, they have for objective to track the maximum power allowing the optimal transfer to the DC load. The simulation of the system is performed in Matlab/Simulink environment. As results different curves of the output power are showed to analyze the performance of the hybrid PV-Wind system under variable wind speed, irradiance and temperature conditions.
