Abstract

Power Quality (PQ) is a broad term used to describe the electrical power system's performance and efficiency. The impact of PQ disturbances on the industries and individual facilities is manifested as reducing uptime of plant equipment, losing production, lost data, and other costly ramifications. In this regard, the PQ problems have become a major concern for modern industries with nonlinear loads in electrical power system. This paper presents the measurements and analysis of the (66/20 kV) distribution network in Syria (city Lattakia), which has important loads with high power quality disturbances. PQ problems, especially harmonics and voltage fluctuations, have been analyzed in this work. Moreover, suitable solutions to mitigate these problems have been discussed. The power distribution system has been modeled using Matlab /Simulink (2016a).
