Abstract

Summary The behaviour of fertilized mouse ova in vitro was observed by means of lime-lapse cinematography: cleavage was followed from the two-cell stage to the formation of the blastocyst. Some types of movements are described, such as those presented by whole blastomeres, as well as the endocytoplasmic movements of different kinds of inclusion. The formation of the blastocyst and its characteristic pulsations are finally described.
