Abstract

The wind profiler is used to detect the atmospheric turbulence signal and the atmospheric three-dimensional wind field information. The SNR of the wind profiler directly affects the credibility of synthetic wind and radar actual detection altitude. Therefore, it is very necessary to evaluate the detection ability of radar by the definition of SNR threshold value. SNR threshold value method, based on the wind profiler signal simulation, get the theoretical SNR threshold which is 1.30. The method is tested with the observational data from January 2013 to December of the Beijing yanqing CFL-08 wind profiler. The results show that this method can get the range of actual SNR threshold is 1.30-1.45, which is the same as theoretical threshold.
