Abstract
In the present study we have investigated the influence of fruit thinning on some apricot cultivarswhich are grown on the commercial plantation of the Bucharest area. The main goal was to establish the optimal phase for thinning. For this reason four experimentalvariants were organized: V1 - control, without thinning; V2 - manual thinning at full blooming;V3 -manual thinning at 25 days after blooming; V4 - manual thinning at 50 days after blooming. At the harvestmoment, the main physic-chemical characteristics of fruits, the total yield and the efficiency index, weredetermined. The experiment has demonstrated the economic interest of the thinning, without reducingthe production and at the same time allowing the increase of the medium caliber of the fruits and thesoluble solids content. The best results were obtained for the variant where the thinning was made 25days after blossom.
