Abstract

1. 1. Eight specimens of Dalatias licha contained between 12 ml and 550 ml of oil in their stomachs. 2. 2. Squalene, wax esters, diacyl glycerol ethers and triglycerides were major components of the stomach oils. 3. 3. The stomach oils are believed to be dietary residues resulting from inadequate gastric peristalsis. 4. 4. The large quantities of squalene in the liver oils appear to be of dietary origin.
