Abstract

The separation of low boiling petroleum hydrocarbons as well as some simple aromatic compounds by means of adsorption chromatography has been studied. As the results, it has been recognized that the separation of paraffin hydrocarbons from aromatic or olefin hydrocarbons is quite easy, but the separation of olefin hydrocarbons from aromatic hydrocarbons, and the separation of each component of a same kind of hydrocarbon are somewhat difficult through the adsorption column of silica gelly, alumina or active charcoal.Although the separation of benzene, toluene and xylene from each other is difficult, but the separation of some simple aromatic compounds, such as nitrobenzene, aniline or phenols, from these aromatic hydrocarbons is comparatively easy.
