Abstract

1. For comparing the time requirements of the plants singling works in the traditional method and the platform method, the survey on the work diaries and the time studies on singling works were carried out in turnip fields.2. From the results of the survey on the work diaries, it was comfirmed that the most labour saving work sequence was “drilling in row-brocking the row-singling by hands” and the time requirement for singling was about one hour per are in the traditional method and 17-24min. per are in the platform method.3. From the results of the time studies, the time requirement for singling by the platform method was 14.8min. per are including tractor operater. As the time requirement for singling by the traditional method was 13.6min. per are in the previous article, the difference of the time requirement between both method was not perceived so far as the results of the time studies was concerned.4. The discrepancy of the results between the survey on the work diaries and the time studies was discussed on the accuracy of the records, the effects of the time studies on the workers and the difference of the work load, and it was assumed conclusively that the time requirement by the platform method was smaller than that by the traditional method.5. From the comparison of the work contents of both methods, it was conclued that the platform method was supreior to the traditional method from the view point of the time requirements, the work planning and the work loads on the workers.
