Abstract
In the estimation of gas-chromatography, we feel that calculations per the peak area method is most appropriate. However, even in this method there are many known processes, such as calibration curve and internal standard methods. All of these methods are similar in that calculations are made from peak area, therefore, the accuracy of the estimated results can also be calculated from the deviation of the peak area.Assuming the deviation, (σ) of the peak area as the linear of the area, estimated result σ was obtained through calculations. By further experiments σ was actually measured and it was proven to coincide with the results obtained by calculations. From this results it was discovered that the comparison of relative area was the best calculating method, followed by the internal standard method and the relative calibration curve. It was proven that the addition method produced poor precision and is unsuitable.Furthermore, majority of the error in gas-chromatography is due to the error in the area measurements, therefore, it is our conclusion that to improve the precision of gas-chromatography a better area measuring method must be studied.
