Abstract

Abstract As in the case of the nitro components discussed in Parts I and II, on the formation of crystalline molecular compounds, regularity was found also in the aromatic hydrocarbon components of condensed or non-condensed ring structure. The predominant tendency to compound-formation seems to be affected by the structure of both components, although it differs considerably from that in solutions. All the observed systems were almost halochromic when fused, about half the number of which gave crystalline compounds, some of which are shown in the phase diagrams. The effect of substituents of benzene ring in the binary systems containing antimony trihalides was also studied.
