Abstract

Neodymium-doped L-threonine and pure L-threonine single crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), micromechanical hardness testing, dielectric and photoluminescence studies. Single crystal XRD studies reveals the lattice parameters of the grown crystals. Vickers and Knoop hardness testing methods are employed to evaluate the hardness properties of the crystals. Directional anisotropy is analysed through Knoop hardness measurements. Dielectric studies are conducted to examine the electrical properties of the crystals. Photoluminescence studies reveals that Neodymium-doped L-threonine and pure L-threonine crystals exhibit blue fluorescence. The key novelty of this study is the exploration of the physical and chemical properties of neodymium-doped L-threonine crystals in comparison with undoped L-threonine.
