Abstract

A procedure is described for the separation of the electron transport particle, ETP H, into two components, one a non-phosphorylating ETP H, the other a soluble protein. From these in the presence of Mg ++ the phosphorylating system can be re-constituted; the maximum P/O ratios are respectively 1.0 and 0.6 for DPNH and succinate as substrates. The non-phosphorylating ETP H and the protein factor appear to be firmly bound together by Mg ++.
