Abstract

6-Chloro-3-hydroxy-7-methyl-2-(2’-furyl)-4H-chromen-4-one (CHMFC) has been suggested to be a good colorforming chemical agent for palladium determination in traces in its divalent oxidation state. In 0.025-0.040 M sodium bicarbonate solution, CHMFC forms a yellow complex of the M:L ratio 1:1 on reaction with CHMFC. The various variables affecting the sensitivity of the formed complex are studied and an investigation of foreign ions is additionally done. The presented method of determination of palladium is effectively applied in Pd-charcoal catalyst, alloys, water samples from different sources and synthetic mixtures with an equitable degree of accuracy.
