SINGH, D. B. and BHARAT RAI (Dept. Bot., Banaras Hindu Univ., Varanasi 221 005, India). Studies on the leaf surface mycoflora of mustard (Brassica campestris L. cv. YS-42). Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 107: 447-452. 1980.-The leaf surface mycoflora of mustard (Brassica campestris L. cv. YS-42) were isolated from the seedling stage up to the senescent stage, at intervals of 30 days, by use of the techniques of dilutiou plate, washed leaf disks and unwashed leaf disks in moist chambers. The maximun number of fungal species was isolated by the dilution plate method and the minimum by the washed leaf disks method. Cladosporiurm cladosporioides was most frequentlv isolated under all conditions. However, it was replaced by Alternaria atternata oni washed disks of senescent leaves. The numbers of leaf surface microfungi isolated increased with leaf age.
