Abstract

The thermal decomposition of ZnAl-hydrotalcite-like compounds (ZnAl-HTLcs) was studied using the TG-DTG method. It was shown there was a single mass loss stage of the thermolysis. The kinetics parameters of thermolysis were calculated by the Freeman – Carroll method, and the mechanism function was studied by the Šativa – Šestăk and Achar methods. The value of the apparent activation energy E was ca 180 kJ mol−1, the frequency factor ln( A/s−1) was ca 30 and that reaction order n was equal to about 1.1. The thermal decomposition mechanism function indicated a chemical mechanism and the corresponding function was G(α) = (1 - α)−1 - 1.
