Abstract

Surgical resection of pituitary tumor (MtTW5) in mammary tumor (MTW9)- bearing rats resulted in prompt regression of the mammary tumor. The ribonucleic acid concentration of mammary tumor was decreased by this procedure. The metabolism of radioactive glucose to carbon dioxide and fatty acid was reduced. Adipose tissue deposits were diminished in rats bearing pituitary tumor (MtTW5). Resection of this tumor restored fat deposits toward normal and markedly increased the metabolism of radioactive glucose to carbon dioxide and fatty acid by this tissue.
