Abstract

In power system, superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is one of the best way to solve the large short-circuit current. SFCL presents very small impedance in the normal operation. When a fault occurs, SFCL in the fault transmission line develops high impedance rapidly to suppress the big current, which is helpful for circuit breaker (CB) to remove the fault. However, the fault clearing of circuit breaker is not only restricted by the level of fault current, but also depends on the transient recovery voltage (TRV) of the arc gap. Due to the installation of SFCL in the power system, the influences on the transient recovery voltage of circuit breaker have been pointed out by simulation analysis in this paper.
