Abstract
Abstract Distribution of fragment ions after bombardment of a methanol molecule with various positive ions has been studied by the use of a double mass spectrometer. It was found that the internal energy distribution function has fine structures. The appearance potentials of the fragment ions were re-estimated. From the results the mass spectra of methanol by electron impact were interpreted fairly accurately. The successive ion-molecule reactions after the charge exchange were studied by increasing pressure in the reaction chamber. The behaviors of the metastable ions were also investigated.
