Abstract

Studies were undertaken to determine a suitable dose of γ radiation for controlling larvae of the Khapra beetle, Trogoderma granarium Everts. Larvae of the 1st to the 5th stage were irradiated from a 60Co source at dose levels ranging from 1.0 to 25.0 krad to study their subsequent development. Studies revealed that a radiation dose of 10.0 krad is sufficient to check the growth of 1st–4th stage larvae whereas a higher dose of 25.0 krad is required for the 5th stage larvae for similar effects.
