Abstract

Fl hybrids between 4x Pelargonium roseum and 4x P. denticulatum were backcrossed with 4x P. roseum. Variations in the yield of crop, the yield of essential oil, the components of oil, and chromosome numbers were examined among plants in B1 and B2 generations. An economically promising clone (B1 No.10) was selected among them. The quality of oil in B1 No.10 is as good as that in P.roseum. B1 No.10 is lower in the yield of crop, but higher in the percentage yield of oil, thus 15% to occasionally 40% higher in the total amount of oil than P. roseum.
