Abstract
The mechanism of chemical erosion of CaO in the chrome-magnesite brick as experimentally determined gives the following facts:The lime in the brick accounts for the erosion of the brick which is more rapid than in the case of the erosion by the lime from cement materials. But in either case, the low melting materials produced by the action of lime after erosion consist of two newly formed substances, namely montlcellite and glass. The quantity of glass produced is directly proportional to the quantity of lime content. The quality of the brick depends on the quantity of lime, as determined by following testing results. The bursting test and compression test prove that the brick containing lime is better, but the load test and expansion test prove it to by worse.
