Abstract

AbstractSynthetic polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was utilised as a blend with hydrogel and natural plant leaf extract Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC). Its biodegradability and biocompatibility, have received more attention with regard to the wound dressing applications. In the present work synthesized bio composite film containing Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was characterized using Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Field emission Scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Energy dispersive X‐ ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. Swelling studies and antimicrobial activities were also carried out to ascertain the credibility of the blended mixture. As a result, they offer a promising source of information for studies on wound dressings.
