Abstract

Abstract 1. 1. Absorption of ingested radioactive lipids from the gut of Schistocerca gregaria was studied in vitro. 2. 2. Analysis of the absorbed lipids showed that the lipids are absorbed mainly as diacylglycerol. 3. 3. Electrophoretic analysis of the incubated haemolymph medium revealed that the absorbed radioactive lipids are associated with a haemolymph lipoprotein. 4. 4. Incubation medium lacking in haemolymph altogether, also revealed a labelled lipoprotein which has the same electrophoretic mobility as the haemolymph lipoprotein. 5. 5. It is suggested that the lipids are absorbed from gut as lipoproteins.
