Abstract

This work describes a higher order Large eddy simulation (LES) for active control of flow over a wall mounted hump. The baseline conditions with no flow control, steady suction, and oscillatory blowing and suction flow control cases are compared to experimental results. This simulation models an experiment conducted by NASA which was one of the test cases in their 2004 CFD Validation on Synthetic Jets and Turbulent Separation Control Workshop. The present High -order LES approach demonstrated its capability in predicting the flow physics of several complex flow phenomena significantly well as compared to RANS and other conventional LES approach. The current work concludes that this approach also holds for the cases using active control.
