Abstract

India contributes a large percentage to total world production of rice husk, jute, banana, and coconut fiber. All these natural fibers have excellent physical and mechanical properties, which can be used effectively in the development of composite materials for various structural applications. This article gives an overall view of banana fiber composite and its mechanical properties. The advantage of using natural fiber materials over traditional materials and its possible growth in future are also discussed. The experimental results showed that 15 wt% banana fiber reinforced composite show optimum mechanical properties.
