Abstract

Four new title complexes, [CH 3N(CH 2CH 2C 5H 4) 2LnCl] 2 (Ln = Y, Yb, Sm, Nd), were synthesized by using amine-linked biscyclopentadiene, CH 3N(CH 2CH 2C 5H 5) 2, as ancillary ligands and fully characterized by elemental analyses, MS, IR and 1H NMR. Their spectroscopies indicate that these complexes are chloride-bridged dimers and the two amine-linked cyclopentadienyl rings coordinate to one metal in a chelating fashion with intramolecular coordination from the nitrogen atom to the metal.
