Abstract

AbstractLiquid aryl acrylic acid methyl esters, e.g. furan acrylic acid methyl ester and thienyl acrylic acid methyl ester, were UV‐irradiated (λ ≥ 280 nm) at a temperature of 2°C above their melting points. IR‐methods were used in order to monitor the photoreactions which are of a second order kinetics. The application of GC‐MS indicated that dimers, trimers and tetramers, but no polymers were formed under the chosen conditions.
