Abstract

Three new myxosporidans (Myxozoa: Myxosporea) viz. Thelohanellus coeli n. sp. and Kudoa tachysurae n. sp. from the gallbladder of Tachysurus tenuispinis (Day) and Kudoa bengalensis n. sp. from the skeletal muscles of Tachysurus platystomus (Day) captured from West Bengal coast of Bay of Bengal, have been described. Since T. coeli n. sp. and K. tachysurae n. sp. are the first coelozoic myxosporidans described of the respective genera, a short discussion about the feasibility of the amendmend of the generic characters has also been made.
