Abstract

In granulation in a fluidized, the appropriate selection of the feed rate of the granulating liquid is very important since this parameter, in addition to its effect on the formation of the granulates, considerably influences the capacity of the apparatus. The result of experiments on the effect of the feed rate on granulating liquid on the physical properties of the granulates formed in a fluidized bed (average particle size, the relative amount of the particles not granulated, wear strength, and the inhomogeneities of the binder distribution) are given. On the basis of the heat and liquid balances of the process, correlation is given for the maximum and equilibrium liquid feed rates.
