Abstract
A field experiment entitled Studies on genetic variability, correlation and path analysis in Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.)” was carried out at Horticulture Research Farm, Department of Applied Plant Science (Horticulture), Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow (U.P.) during October to March 2011–12. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The row to row and plant to plant spacing were maintained at 30 x 50 cm, respectively. The twenty five genotypes of coriander are Hissar-5, RCr-435 IC-146683), MKSM-1059, MDCor-330, MKSM-1116, ACR-1 Australia, Sindhu, MKSM-1111, UD-401, ACr-139, VOV/GL-137, Dhania-397, ACr-13, JCO-329, MKSM-1110, ACr-173, MKSM-1091, VDV/GL-37, SKCV-09-40, NDCor-43, MKSM-1101, RCr-41 and VDV/GL-2. The observations were recorded on ten characters viz. plant height (cm), number of secondary branches/plant, days to 50% flowering, number of Umbel/plant, number of umbellets/umbel, days to maturity, number of seeds/umbellets, test weight, seed yield/plant (g) and seed yield/plot (kg). The most desirable genotypes identified for specific characters were MKSM-1110 for plant height, MKSM-1110 for number of secondary branches, Hissar-5 for day to 50% flowering, VOV/GL-137 for number of umbels per plant, Sindhu for number of umbellets/umbel, Hissar-5 for days to maturity, Acr-139 for test weight, MKSM-1110 for number of seeds per umbellets and UD-401 for seed yield per plant.
