Abstract

The present report is based upon a study of a part of a rather extensive collection of helminths from vertebrates and is concerned primarily with heterophyids and accompanying trematodes obtained from cats, several other mammals and a few birds taken in Lower Egypt. The second paper in this series, in preparation, will give the development of the redial and cercarial stages of Heterophyes aequalis in the brackish water snail, Pirenella conica. The authors are indebted to Lt. W. H. Wells, MSC, USN and George M. Malakatis, HM1, USN, of U. S. Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3, Cairo, for assistance in collection of materials.
