Abstract
DURING the past several years a rather extensive study of coccidiosis in chickens has been carried on at the Louisiana Experiment Station. Experiments during the past four years have been carried out with the view of studying the course and effects of coccidiosis upon the chicken with the view of more intelligently applying methods of prevention and treatment. The pullets raised during these experiments on growing stock were transferred to the laying house and made up the flock of hens reported upon in this paper.The objects in undertaking this experiment were as follows: (1) To determine the effects of coccidiosis in young chickens upon the egg production of the adult hens. (2) To make a study of the chronic type of the disease. (3) To determine if chickens once attacked were more or less susceptible to a second attack or to other diseases.
