Abstract

Abstract New Re-based alloys have been prepared by introducing boron in already known alloys. In some of these alloys, Ce and Eu have been shown to undergo a variation in their valence state. EuPd 3 B exhibits an interesting behaviour, viz. a charge ordering similar to that in Eu 3 S 4 . CeRh 3 B 2 and EuRh 3 B 2 have been shown to order magnetically despite the fact that Ce is in mixed valence state and Eu is in trivalent (non-magnetic) state. Rh-d bands are presumably responsible for this behaviour. In EuNi 2 P 2 , Mossbauer resonance exhibits anomalous variation of the line width with temperature.
