Abstract

Diatrypella de Not. in Cesati & de Notaris emend. Wehmeyer (1926). Stroma effuse or isolated. Stroma often pustulate but usually not widely erumpent, bounded by a dark marginal zone. Perithecia usually clustered, rarely separately erumpent. Ostioles usually sulcate. Asci long stalked, polysporous. Spores allantoid, one celled, yellow hyaline. Imperfect stromata open labyrinthiform grooves, lined by a hymenium of closely crowded, branched sporophores which produce slimy, meristem phialospores. Microconidia hyaline, short, slightly curved. Macroconidia long, filamentous, curved, hyaline. Type species: D. favacea (Fr.) Cesati & de Notaris Ascospores slightly curved 6–8 × 1–2μ, D.favacea. Ascospores strongly curved 8–12 × 2–3μ, D. quercina.
