Abstract
In 31 kala-azar patients, the bone marrow picture and activities of three erythrocyte enzymes were studied: acetylcholinesterase (EC 3.1.1.7), pseudocholinesterase (EC 3.1.1.8) and ATPase (EC 3.6.1.3). The bone marrow was usually hypercellular with erythroid hyperplasia. The activities of these enzymes were similar to those in healthy individuals. The effect of treatment on the level of these enzymes was also followed.
