Abstract A concise enantiocontrolled synthesis of the enamine-aminal heterocyclic core found in the zoanthamine alkaloids is presented. Conjugate addition of a chiral imine provides for excellent diastereofacial selectivity in the generation of the quaternary C 9 asymmetry of 4 .
