Abstract

Experiments on the beneficiation of multimetal pyritic sulphidc ore of lead-zinc-copper from Rajpura Dariba Mine of Hindustan Zinc Limited, Udaipur (India) conducted, using chemical auxiliaries based on guargum and its derivatives as depressant systems without any basic alteration in plant operating conditions, yielded better metallurgical results for recovery of lead values in flotation of lead concentrate. The silica depressants studied in the present investigation includes sodium silicate, guargum as well as its cationic derivative along with sodium isopropyl xanthane (IPX) as collector and Mehtyl lsobutyl Ketone (MIBK) as frother. The other operating parameters, viz. reagents, concentration and pH of the pulp were also systematically studied and optimized. The improved metallurgical results were obtained with a combination of sodium silicate and cationic guargum as silica depressant at pH 8.0.
