Abstract

1. (1) The results of a comparison of the aggressivity of ovale sporozoites as compared with trophozoites are reported and discussed. 2. (2) Parasites derived from inoculated sporozoites appear to have a greater power of producing infection, and of survival and multiplication in the body, than have those from trophozoites. 3. (3) No evidence could be obtained that this greater aggressivity was determined by such other factors as either (i) a larger dosage of sporozoites, (ii) the transference of some degree of passive immunity with the inoculated blood, or (iii) the use of sporozoites of a strain of P. ovale having a higher pathogenicity. 4. (4) Miscellaneous evidence collected from other reports suggests that this property of greater aggressivity may also be possessed by the sporozoites of other species of Plasmodium.
