Abstract

Abstract Infection of chicken embryo fibroblasts in vitro by avian sarcoma viruses results, beginning at about 36 hours after infection, in approximately a 5-fold increase in cellular levels of hyaluronic acid synthetase with a consequent increase in production of hyaluronic acid. Several properties of the enzyme systems in uninfected and in infected cells were examined. No significant differences were found.
