Abstract

Abstmct-A theoretical and experimental study is reported on the operation of a tunable surface acoustic wave (SAW) oscillator incorporating a differential SAW delay line. Control of the differential delay line is effected with metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) circuitry. Circuit details are given for a 70 MHz prototype SAW oscillator circuit, including those on tunability and phase noise performance. With the use of such MOSFET control circuitry, this ing technique should be applicable to ultra-high frequency (UHF) SAW oscillator circuitry.
