Abstract

The purpose of this study was to prepare and evaluate immediate release itraconazole granules and comprehensive studies of the same. The intraconazole granles is prepared using fluid bed processer with different concentration of HPC (Hydroxy Propyl Cellulose). The physicochemical compatibility of the drug and the excipients studied by differential scanning calorimetry. The prepared granules were physically evaluated with size, shape, surface roughness, density, moisture content, assay and drug release etc. The in vitro drug release profile from granules shows that all the formulation release more than 89% drug within 1 hr. Optimized formulations were found to have HPC concentration 10% of total weight of granules to maximize high-quality surface, desired release, and size distribution within the range. These results indicate that granules containing 10 % HPC of total weight of granules give better quality of intraconazole granules for immediate release.
