Abstract

The arene(olefin)ruthenium(0) and osmium(0) complexes C 6Me 6Ru(CO)(C 2H 3R) (R = H, Me) and C 6H 6Os(L)(C 2H 4) (L = PMe 3, CO) are prepared directly by reduction of C 6Me 6RuCl 2(CO) or C 6H 6OsI 2(L) with NaC 10H 8 under an atmosphere of ethylene or propylene, respectively. For the osmium compounds which are already known, this one-step synthesis is more convenient than the previously used methods.
