Abstract

This contribution describes the changes which took place in the literary activities of students from the Czech Lands who studied at the Basel University during the first decade of the Thirty Years’ War. The war was changing their social position and career opportunities, and this is reflected also in the form of their publications and in their dedication strategy. The motif of war and political changes is reflected above all in their poetry. As an appendix to the article, there is attached a letter addressed to the by then exiled Jan Škréta Šotnovský of Závořice written by his brother Jindřich in 1628.
