Abstract

Radiology is in need of physicians who are demographically diverse to holistically treat the needs of an increasingly diverse US population. An important tool in increasing diversity is the pipeline programs that support medical students pursuing a career in radiology. A lack of diversity is seen in all radiologic specialties including diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and radiation physics. According to the 2010 US census, Black and Hispanic Americans comprise 12.6% and 16.3% of the population, respectively.
