Student enrollment up for the first time since pandemic — but results are mixed

Abstract

While enrollment for colleges and universities during the fall 2023 semester increased nationwide over fall 2022, first‐time freshman enrollment at four‐year institutions, both public and private, dropped. That finding was announced during a webinar interpreting the results of an annual Stay Informed with the Latest Enrollment Information report from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.
