Abstract

A review of the literature on struma lymphomatosa (Hashimoto's disease) showed the disease to be rare in children. Although an exhaustive review of the literature was not made, only two other case reports of struma lymphomatosa in children under ten years of age were found. Operative and pathologic findings in a nine and a half year old girl, with postoperative observations over a period of twenty-three months, are presented. The difficulty in making a differential diagnosis between struma lymphomatosa and carcinoma of the thyroid in children is emphasized.
